Single ring and ball method softening point apparatus set, including hotplate. This set can be used for single determinations such as: asphalts, pitches, tars and most resins. Includes 6″ x 6″ electric hotplate as a heat source rather than a gas burner. The hotplate provides an easy-to-set analog temperature control knob with graduated scale and LED display. Temperature range is: ambient to 540°C (Ambient to 1004°F). Includes beaker, support stand, 1 ring, wire gauze with ceramic center, thermometer clamp, 1 shouldered ring and stem with hardened steel ball.
